Thiruvallam Sree Parasurama Temple (Kovalam)

Thiruvallam Sree Parasurama Temple is one of the ancient temples of the south India located on the bank of karamana river near Thiruvallam, Thiruvananthapuram.

It is only the temple dedicated to the Lord Parashurama. The full name of the temple is Thiruvallam Sri Parashurama Swami Temple.

The temple is nearest to the Trivandrum flightport and Kovalam beach.

The Parashurama is the sixth avatar of the lord Vishnu. He is considered one of the seven immortal humans. He was always having an axe near him. Even in all the photos and sculpture of Parasurama they are with that axe. He received this axe from the Lord Shiva, the techniques of using this axe is also learning by the Lord Shiva.

Karkidaka Vavubali and Vavubali Tharpanam is the most popular ritual conducted at this place. Karkidaka wave is the new moon day in the Malyalam month of Karkidakom. During this day the people of Kerala perform vavubali with the guidance of the Priest and the elderly person of the village.
